It all starts with that inkling feeling at the pit of your stomach. When the days are just getting too long. You wake up in a panic out of fear that you’ve missed your alarm when in fact, it’s actually the weekend. And even as you slumber at night, you’re not at ease because even in your dreams you are chasing deadlines. It’s at that instance when you know, it’s time for a break. And when I say break, I’m not talking about your 5-star hotels or luxury spas.
Oftentimes, life becomes too fast-paced that you start to lose track of where you are. Because while the hustle and grind is a noble pursuit, it’s just as important to take a moment and pause. And stopping to pause can mean so many things to different people– a walk in the park, an ice cold beer at your favorite bar, curling up in bed with a good book, or even something as simple as a breathtaking view. The latter was definitely the case for lifestyle and travel photographer, Kevin Cayuca, when he climbed Mt. Pulag.
With any climb, you often hear the line, “The view at the top was worth it!” Mount Pulag is indeed, a different story.
It is not only the view at the top that makes the adventure worth it, but the entirety of your hike getting there. The trail is a visual feast of postcard-perfect views that will leave you in awe of how truly amazing nature is.
It’s euphoric really, how something so raw can be that beautiful. You only need to allow yourself to take it all in. Breathe in the breathtaking. Sometimes, the mere sound of the waves crashing against rocks or the bright orange sunset, has the ability to absolutely take your breath away. How luscious greenery, something you don’t give much value to on a normal day, is actually such a wonder when witnessed in open fields that go on forever. Because of all the mundane, material things that you’re convinced give you pleasure, there is truly nothing quite like nature.
Take a break over the weekend. Give yourself a moment to, literally, stop and smell the roses. Because despite all the glitz and glamour life may have to offer, there is no comparing the untouched beauty of the natural world. It is a gift often taken for granted, but also the most valuable one we are given. Savour every bit of it.
